IMMIGRATION SERVICES
Citizenship & Naturalization
The final step to full membership in the United States.
OVERVIEW
Most permanent residents can apply to naturalize after five years with a green card, or three years if married to and living with a U.S. citizen. You must meet residence and physical presence requirements, pass English and civics tests, and show good moral character. Some people are already citizens through a parent and only need proof.
Citizenship brings the right to vote, a U.S. passport, and freedom to travel without risking your status. But the application reviews your entire immigration history. Past arrests, tax problems, or earlier filings can put a green card at risk, so we review everything before you file.
