Violence Against Women Act Petitions
Independence from an abuser, and a path to a green card.
OVERVIEW
The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) lets abused spouses, children, and parents of U.S. citizens or permanent residents apply for a green card on their own. You do not need the abuser’s help or knowledge. Despite its name, VAWA protects people of any gender.
You must show battery or extreme cruelty by the citizen or resident family member, shared residence, and good moral character. Spouses must also show the marriage was genuine. We help you gather this evidence safely and prepare a strong, confidential self-petition.
HOW WE HELP
— VAWA self-petitions for spouses, children, and parents
— Evidence of abuse, good-faith marriage, and good moral character
— Cases filed after divorce or the abuser’s death
— Green card applications after approval
— VAWA cancellation of removal in immigration court
Every case depends on its facts. This page is a general introduction and is not legal advice.
